- The new school trio of Lester, Aunty Rae and nahsafe bring together a cohesive and eclectic sound to bridge the gap between underground and mainstream. Almost two years since Lester's single "Scene" made waves in the lo-fi hip-hop community of Majestic Casual, "Sometimes" is set to follow a similar path.
From the outset the listener is encapsulated by angelic notes of neo-soul singer Aunty Rae longing for a place to call home. The waving instrumental backdrop of nahsafe perfectly accompanies the singer/rapper combo who navigate the idea of belonging and a sense of self. Lester's version of home highlights both the mundane as missing '...the toaster that's broken and only burns one side', as well as a spiritual connection through music, 'singing songs in a place with a symphony is something like a feeling of acceptance universally'. In a time of uncertainty and significant societal change, the track's take home message is the idea of home as both a physical space, as well as an internal place of comfort and sense of belonging.
Sometimes is the featured single for his upcoming EP, due end of 2020.
