- About:
- Avalon's Fields is the second single and intro from EXCALIBUR, the forthcoming first installment of Ronin Halloway's upcoming double-album campaign.
Halloway shares his thought on the upcoming record's special sound and the impact he feels the project will have:
"EXCALIBUR represents an approach to a trap-based sound that is wholly inspired, and unique. Iβm utilizing and fusing my Grime influences with Lupe Fiasco/Jay Electronica-fueled lyricial mysticism, along with a healthy dose of metal influence seasoning the whole thing. Itβs something Ski Mask The Slump God and Team Sesh fans can appreciate for its crushing tendencies, while offering a little more in the way of focusing on Hip-Hop rap technique and precision. XVII is at a level of ability that is 808 Mafia-tier, with his own unique way of bending samples and a very very interesting approach to melody. He doesnβt focus on a chop per se, but rather hears a sample and can see its potential 4 layers deep, the potential for it to flavor the track and give it character. All together, EXCALIBUR is a record that is pushing boundaries within a framework that retains a certain level of listenability. I believe it has the potential to influence other artists and provide a window into a new way to approach the sound."
EXCALIBUR and EXCALIBUR II are set for a summer 2020 release.
